Meet Amy

I have struggled with the answer when asked, "What do you do?" and it isn't work-related. Ultimately, we settled on that I find things and untangle things. But I also read (a lot), pretend to wake surf, and watch Hallmark films.

The Weekend Away
it was amazing
So so good! Orla and Kate are long-time best friends off on a girls' weekend away. Kate is a bit of a player who is trying to get back at her soon-to-be-ex, causing her to spend frivolously and do drugs and hook-ups. Orla is a new mom ex...

Maybe Next Time
really liked it
Parts were a screaming 5 and parts were like “what?” And just irritated me. It is a Groundhog Day premise about a family of four - the mom is caught up in her own life and missing all that is going on around her with her kids and then he...

She’s my “Mini-Me”

I don’t think there is a day that we don’t say, “Holy cow, Ivy is just like me and Jade is just like Dad!”

Tonight at bedtime, I took my pen and tried to write on the bottom of Ivy’s little foot.  She giggled and pulled it away from me.  Jade asked me if I would write something on her foot.  I got our whole address written and she hadn’t even squirmed.  My turn was next.  Scott was barely able to write the “A” of my name.  I wrote Scott’s full name on the bottom of his foot.

Ivy is not very strong.  Jade is a powerhouse.  Scott, well, he’s a man.  I’m not strong at all.

As a child, I was afraid to do backwards somersaults or jump on the trampoline.  Finally, this year Ivy is able to actually get air when she jumps on the trampoline.   Jade is not afraid of anything.  She’ll climb a rope, 30 feet tall, and won’t ever worry about the ground way below.  Scott is able to flip and twist on the trampoline and jump across the wake of the boat.  Even now, I’ll try things (like a flip on the tramp or wake boarding) but I am filled with anxiety the WHOLE time.

Jade has Scott’s long legs and round bum.  Ivy has my long legs and no bum.

I love that our girls are so different from one another and so like their parents.  But it makes me feel very sad when Jade comes to me with a tear in her eye, wishing she was more like me.  On the other hand, I love it when she laughs about being “Daddy’s Girl” while Ivy is “Mommy’s Girl”.

HA! You are right! Love it!

  • You do look like twins. How fun it is to see our image in our children. Fun and scary all at the same time.

Wow! Striking resemblance! I don’t think any of The Dudes look like me. Probably better off that way. Hope you link this to Old School Photo Friday tomorrow…it’s perfect!

  • She really does look like you. She’s so beautiful. I know a lot of people who have two children and one is like mommy and the other like daddy. It’s amazing how much that happens!

Ivy really resembles you in the photo. It’s the same with my family . My elder boy looks more like his dad while the younger one looks more like me.

Aww, that is such a cute post. Ivy really does look a lot like you when you were a child. You both share a beautiful smile 🙂 I wish my daughter looked more like me. Everyone says that she is like my husband’s mini-me. I’m glad that at least you and your husband each have a child who takes after you!

I love that our family is so diverse… short/tall, blue eyes/brown eyes, blondes/brunettes, scholars/athletes/dancers/musicians/ artists/ gamers, dare-devils/”cautious people”, introverts/extroverts, etc. The nice thing about this is that the kids can ALWAYS find someone in the family to relate to and know they “belong”.

Wow, you guys totally do look alike! Both my kids are spittin’ images of my husband, so I guess he never has to wonder. But, I wish I could see at least a little bit of me in them.

Oh that is so adorable! WOW What a resemblance! My oldest has my brown eyes but looks just like dad where the youngest has dads blue eyes but looks just like me!

  • Holy cow, you weren’t kidding, those pictures are great…so similar! My husband and I are like that with our two daughters…one is just like me, one like him. Got to love genetics!

Oh… this makes me think of similar things with my kids. My first and third are much like me and 2nd like his dad… 4th like his dad… (Yeah… they’re different.) *sigh*

    Nice POST! (((HUGS)))
